How Does TEAM e3 Deliver Service Learning?
Service-Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that
integrates meaningful community service with instruction and
reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic
responsibility, and strengthen communities. TEAM e3 as a
service learning initiative can support a school's existing
service learning projects - or create a turn-key starting point
that's easy to implement.
An exciting, hands-on approach to education, service-learning
is taking place in schools throughout the country.
The core concept driving this educational strategy is that by
combining service objectives and learning objectives, along
with the intent to show measurable change in both the recipient
and the provider of the service, the result is a
radically-effective transformative method of engaging
students.
Volunteering to help a teacher, mentoring a younger peer or sharing expertise and time is valuable. When those roles are tied to student-designed activities, reflection and integration with core curriculum goals it becomes service learning.
There
are many service learning grants. TEAM e3 was
developed to tie directly to objectives of most service
learning requests for proposals.
Why not use entrepreneurship as a school-to-work solution for
K-12 students curious about the world of work? Building a
high-interest program like TEAM e3 has proven to be a highly
motivating endeavor for students of all ages. Service Learning
leaps a student straight into the world of real, useful work
right inside the school environment. Participating students
build an impressive resume of work place skills while becoming
communicators, collaborators, problem-solvers, and publishers.
They become engaged in their family, school and community while
acting as informed, responsible, contributing citizens.
Engaging the students (and even families) is your best "first step" toward gaining powerful partners and engaged learners.here are some of the programs students can lead in a TEAM e3 program:
- ExerLearning for Academic Success
- Footgaming for Health and fitness
