We have a company baseball team.  Can FootGaming help our team?

Of course a pro ball player will be lean, fit, strong and able to hit, throw, catch and run at top levels.  For the recreational player on a company team, some benefit can be gained through Footgaming fun for 15-30+ minutes a day.  Your team may not go to the batting cage with regularity, but if they play World of Warcraft, chat on Facebook and play casual games, Footgaming could add some valuable fitness factors.

Cal Ripken, Sr., describes the ideal hitter, "The ideal hitter would probably have a combination of these qualities: strength, determination, coordination, confidence, vision, rhythm, quick hands, and the will to learn and to take advice.  Hitting a home run may be the single most exciting thing about baseball hitting. The thrill of being able to  run the bases and touch them all is something that all players should get to experience. One thing that can help this become a reality, is having a proper stance at the plate.

Proper weight distribution is very important in  because it allows the hitter to have more control at the plate. With good balance, a hitter can consistently use all his or her  power to hit the baseball. Also, good balance allows the hitter to recover from being fooled by an off-speed pitch and either foul off the pitch or hit it to the opposite field.

One little known technique to help Baseball Hitting is to develop your body balance. FootGaming, especially games like Chuzzle and Bejeweled demand balance and deliver balance practice.  Eye-tracking is built in to the games, especially AstroPop.

Skill-related Physical Fitness :   Look at the chart below.   Skill-related physical fitness consists of those components of physical fitness that have a relationship with enhanced performance in sports and motor skills. The components are commonly defined as agility, balance, coordination, power, speed and reaction time.  With the changing focus to health-related physical fitness those components of fitness previously included in fitness tests that are not directly related to improved health are designated as skill-related physical fitness components. Possession of skill-related fitness abilities enhances ability to perform in sports and games.  The skill-related components of fitness that are delivered by FootGaming are: agility, balance, coordination, visual tracking and reaction time. It is assumed that people who possess skill-related fitness will be more likely to engage in regular activity and for this reason will have enhanced health-related fitness.
