How Much Exercise Does Footgaming Deliver?
We spend a lot of time sitting - at school, at work, at home, at the computer, in front of screens, using digital media, cell phones, mobile devices and having our meals. By adding some very low-end aerobic exercise we can change our "energy in / energy out" quotient considerably. For instance, standing burns about 50 percent more calories than sitting. So, by simply standing a 155-pound person can burn as many as 50 more calories per hour. Pacing allows that same person to burn another 35 to 40calories per hour. FootGaming can easily deliver an additional 50-250+ calories per hour.
How much mass a person is moving (weight) through what distance (up stairs, across space, or simply stepping and standing) determines the level of exercise we generate. Heart rate and what percent of our max heart rate we are working at is an important number. One of our most active FootGames is AstroPop. Here are some examples of heart rate generated in a 10-minute Footgaming session.
