Create Your Own Chuzzle
The bright Chuzzles populating the
Chuzzle game have appealing personality. Their eyes are a big
part of what kids like about the Chuzzle game - full of
expression, energy and emotion. With a few cents worth of
yarn, some glue stick-on eyes and a toss of imagination, your
students can create their own Chuzzles.
Art fun:
With crayon, markers or colored
pencil, even with a computer draw/paint program, students can
begin to design their own Chuzzle. Naming the creation
with a name that matches the personality they create is an
extension of the fun. A solid "next step" is to give the
Chuzzle a birthday, a hobby, a house and some accessories.
Today's students are well practiced doing this sort of activity
at WebKinz, Elf Island and sites like GaiaOnline.
Writing Fun:
Writing a personal diary or "day in the life" journal entry
from the perspective of the Chuzzle soundly rounds out the
activity. This can be a computer-based activity or one students
create with pen and paper. Oral sharing and discussion
can follow. In the Chuzzle
Chase activity it is common for students to decide thatn
they can best "reach the capitol" by teaming and collecting
Footgaming steps together. They may want to create
Chuzzle personalities and team up based on features or skills
defined by Chuzzle journals.
Another writing opportunity could be to have students describe why "popping Chuzzles" makes them so happy. What is it like in their land of soft critters and bright colors. Once the Chuzzles seem real, it will be easier to set the stage for social studies exploration the the Governor Chuz activity.
